Jens Hansen Tungsten One Ring Review: The Film Ring for Everyday Wear
Verdict
A faithful, affordable version of the film ring from its original makers, as long as you are certain of your size. If you are not, look at silver or gold instead.
The One Ring, Gold Plated Tungsten Carbide Jens Hansen $129 price checked October 16, 2026
Not measured by us. Details come from the retailer.
What we like
- Made by the workshop that made the film rings
- Film shape and thickness, with the inscription inside and out
- Scratch resistant tungsten with a real sense of weight
- Lowest price for the Jens Hansen design
What to consider
- Cannot be resized, and no half sizes
- The engraving cannot be changed or left off
- Gold is a plating, not solid metal
The ring in brief
This is the One Ring in gold plated tungsten carbide, made by Jens Hansen and sold under Wētā Workshop's licence from Warner Bros. It is the least expensive way to own the ring as its original makers make it today: $129, whole US sizes 6 to 13, in a walnut gift box. Wētā Workshop sells the same ring at the same price; we cover that listing in a separate review.
What we know
The details below come from the Jens Hansen product page.
- Material. Tungsten carbide with 18K gold plating. Jens Hansen describes the ring as 100% hypoallergenic.
- Shape. Made to the exact shape, thickness and proportions of the film prop, according to the workshop.
- Inscription. Engraved on the inside and outside of the band. It cannot be changed, and the ring cannot be ordered without it.
- Sizes. Whole US sizes 6 to 13 only. Half sizes are not available and cannot be custom ordered.
- Resizing. Not possible. The workshop says this is due to the nature of tungsten carbide and asks buyers to double check their measurements.
- Box. Walnut wood with The Lord of the Rings logo on the lid and the Wētā and Jens Hansen logos inside.
What we haven't verified
We have not held this ring, so we cannot tell you how it feels on the finger, how close the colour is to solid gold, how deep the engraving is or how well the plating stands up to daily wear. We have not weighed it. The product page does not give a weight in grams, so we will not guess one. When we have the ring in hand we will add measurements and our own photos, and say so at the top of this page.
Who it suits
If you know your size with certainty and want the film ring at a gift friendly price, this is the obvious choice. Tungsten does not scratch easily and the density gives the ring a solid feel, which is part of why it sells so well.
It is a poor choice if the ring is a surprise and you are guessing the size, or if it is meant as a wedding band you expect to wear for decades. Fingers change, and a ring that cannot be resized will have to be replaced. For a long term ring, compare the sterling silver and 10K gold versions, which can be adjusted by about one size, and read our wedding bands guide.
How it compares
At $129 it sits above The Noble Collection's steel ring at $59 and its gold plated silver ring at $159 in film accuracy, since neither Noble ring copies the Jens Hansen prop. Badali's silver One Ring from $139 is a different design with more size options. All of them are in One Ring replicas compared, and our materials guide explains why tungsten behaves so differently from silver and gold.
Before buying from anywhere other than Jens Hansen or Wētā Workshop, read is this the real One Ring?. Copies of this exact ring are common, and the price difference is usually the first clue. For the background on the prop itself, see the One Ring.
