Verdict

The film shape in solid precious metal at a middle price, with some room for resizing. A sensible step up from tungsten if you can live with silver.

Bilbo Ring: The One Ring, Sterling Silver Jens Hansen $399 price checked October 16, 2026

Not measured by us. Details come from the retailer.

What we like

  • Solid sterling silver in the film shape
  • Inscription engraved inside and out
  • Can be stretched or compressed by about one US size
  • Same walnut box as the rest of the licensed range

What to consider

  • Silver colour, not the gold of the film ring
  • Silver tarnishes and scratches more easily than tungsten
  • The Bilbo name is marketing, not film history

The ring in brief

Jens Hansen sells its sterling silver One Ring as the Bilbo Ring. It costs $399, comes in US sizes 7 to 12 and is made under Wētā Workshop's licence, like the rest of the Jens Hansen One Ring range. Wētā Workshop lists the same silver ring at the same price.

The name needs a word of explanation. In the story there is only one Ring, and it is gold. "Bilbo Ring" for silver and "Gollum Ring" for 10K gold are product names that refer to who carried the ring, nothing more. We explain the naming on our One Ring page.

What we know

From the Jens Hansen product page:

  • Material. Sterling silver.
  • Shape. Crafted to the exact shape, thickness and proportions of the original movie prop.
  • Inscription. Engraved inside and outside the band in Tengwar script.
  • Sizes. Six sizes, US 7 to 12.
  • Resizing. Jens Hansen says it, or any competent jeweller, should be able to stretch or compress and repolish the ring by up to one US size.
  • Box. Walnut with the Lord of the Rings logo, and the Wētā and Jens Hansen logos inside.
  • Production. Jens Hansen says its son Halfdan Hansen supervises production of the One Ring for Wētā today.

What we haven't verified

We have not seen this ring in person. We do not know its weight, how crisp the engraving is under magnification, or how the polish compares with the gold version. The page does not list a weight, so we have not given one. We also cannot say how long the silver keeps its shine in daily wear; that depends on the wearer as much as the ring.

Who it suits

This is the version for people who want solid metal and the full inscription without paying for gold. The resizing allowance makes it safer as a gift than tungsten, though one size is not a lot of room. Silver darkens with time, especially if the ring is worn in water or stored in the open, and needs a polishing cloth now and then.

If the gold colour is what you picture when you think of the One Ring, silver will always look slightly wrong. In that case the 10K gold Gollum Ring is the honest answer, at a much higher price, and the tungsten ring gives you the colour for less if you know your size.

How it compares

Silver One Rings range from The Noble Collection's $79 band, engraved on the outside only, to this ring at $399. Badali's sterling silver ring from $139 offers quarter sizes and different rune finishes but is its own design rather than the film shape. See all of them in One Ring replicas compared, and our materials guide explains how silver wears over the years. To check whether a silver ring is a licensed one, see is this the real One Ring?
