Jens Hansen Gollum Ring Review: The One Ring in 10K Solid Gold
Verdict
The most practical solid gold One Ring from its original makers, and a credible wedding band. The price is high and the carat is lower than the film prop.
Gollum Ring: The One Ring, 10K Solid Gold Jens Hansen From $3,999 price checked October 16, 2026
Not measured by us. Details come from the retailer.
What we like
- Solid gold with the inscription inside and out
- Film shape from the workshop that made the prop
- Can be adjusted by about one US size
- In stock rather than made to order
What to consider
- Expensive, from $3,999
- 10K, not the 18ct of the film ring
- Sizes only from US 7 to 11
The ring in brief
The Gollum Ring is Jens Hansen's One Ring in 10K solid yellow gold, made under Wētā Workshop's licence. It starts at $3,999, comes in US sizes 7 to 11, and has a rhodium plated option for a white gold look. Jens Hansen markets it partly as a Lord of the Rings wedding ring, and it is the ring in this range that makes the most sense in that role.
As with the silver Bilbo Ring, the name is a product name. The film ring had no Gollum version; there was one design, made in many sizes. Our One Ring page explains where the names come from.
What we know
From the Jens Hansen product page:
- Material. 10K solid yellow gold. The workshop says the gold is sourced in New Zealand.
- Shape. Crafted to the exact shape, thickness and proportions of the original movie prop.
- Inscription. Engraved inside and outside the band.
- Sizes. Five sizes, US 7 to 11.
- Resizing. Jens Hansen says it or any competent jeweller should be able to stretch or compress the ring by up to one US size.
- White gold look. Only yellow gold is offered, with optional rhodium plating that the workshop says needs renewing every year or two.
- Box. Walnut with the Lord of the Rings logo outside and the Wētā and Jens Hansen logos inside.
What we haven't verified
We have not handled this ring. We do not know its weight or how its colour compares with the 18ct film prop in person, and the product page gives neither a weight nor a width. We cannot judge the finish, the depth of the engraving or the quality of the box from photographs alone. Until we have one in hand, everything above is the maker's description.
Who it suits
If you want a solid gold One Ring as a wedding band, this is the most straightforward way to get the film design from its original makers. It is in stock, it can be adjusted a little, and 10K gold is a hard wearing alloy for a ring worn every day. Our wedding bands guide covers what else to think about for a ring you will wear for decades.
The limits are the size range and the carat. If you wear a size outside 7 to 11, look at Badali's gold One Ring, which runs from 4 to 20. If the exact carat of the prop matters, Wētā Workshop takes orders for an 18K version from $8,799. And if the inscription is the part you are less sure about, Jens Hansen's unlicensed Movie Ring is the plain film shape, which we explain in our is this the real One Ring? guide.
How it compares
Gold One Rings start at $2,499 for Badali's 10K ring and go up to Wētā Workshop's made to order 18K version. The tungsten and silver versions of this ring cost a fraction of the price. All of them are side by side in One Ring replicas compared, and the materials guide explains what you gain and lose with each.
