About MovieRings

MovieRings is an independent guide to the rings seen in film and television. For each ring we look at who made the original props, which replicas you can buy today, what they are made of and what they cost. We also say plainly what we have checked ourselves and what we have not.

What we cover

The first rings on the site come from The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films and from The Rings of Power series. Other films and series may follow later.

Who writes MovieRings

Every page on MovieRings is researched, written and kept up to date by Tom Fairbairn.

Tom Fairbairn is the pen name MovieRings is written under. Tom is not a jeweller and does not have every ring on this site in hand. Reviews are based on what makers and retailers publish, compared side by side, and each one says what we could and could not check. When we have handled a ring ourselves, the page says so.

How the site is paid for

There are currently no affiliate links and no ads on MovieRings, and we do not take commissions from retailers. Links to makers and shops are ordinary links. Our editorial policy explains how we research, how we use product photos and how we handle prices.

Not connected to any studio or shop

MovieRings is not affiliated with any film studio, rights holder, maker or retailer. Names such as The Lord of the Rings appear on this site only to describe the rings we write about.
