MovieRings

MovieRings is an independent guide to the rings seen in film and TV. For each ring we look at who made the original prop, which replicas you can buy, what they are made of and what they cost, and we say clearly what we have and have not checked ourselves.

We start with Middle-earth: The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit and The Rings of Power. More films and series will follow.

The Lord of the Rings rings overview lists every major ring in Tolkien's world, from the One Ring to Nenya and the Ring of Barahir, and which of them exist as licensed replicas. If you already know you want the One Ring, One Ring replicas compared puts every licensed version side by side on material, price and sizing.

The ring in the films was made by a jeweller in Nelson, New Zealand, and the workshop still makes the licensed replicas today. Copies of those rings are easy to find too. Is this the real One Ring? explains the difference between a licensed ring, the unlicensed Movie Ring and a fake, before you spend anything.

How we work

We have not had these rings in our hands yet. Product photos come from the makers and retailers, with their permission, and every one is labelled. Prices are read from each retailer's own site and dated. Our reviews say what the maker states and what we could not verify, and they do not give star ratings until we have handled and measured a ring ourselves. There are currently no affiliate links or ads on this site. The editorial policy has the details.

Every page shows the date it was last updated, and every price shows the date we last checked it, because both change. If you spot a mistake or want us to cover a ring we have missed, the contact page explains how to reach us.
