Jens Hansen: The One Ring, Gold Plated Tungsten Carbide
The One Ring, Gold Plated Tungsten Carbide Jens Hansen $129 price checked October 16, 2026
Not measured by us. Details come from the retailer.
This is the cheapest way to own the One Ring as Jens Hansen makes it. The band is tungsten carbide with 18K gold plating, cut to the shape and thickness of the film prop, and engraved inside and out with the inscription. It comes in whole US sizes from 6 to 13 in a walnut gift box with the Lord of the Rings logo on the lid.
The catch is in the material. Jens Hansen states plainly that tungsten carbide cannot be resized, that half sizes are not available and that the engraving cannot be changed. If you are between sizes, or buying a gift without knowing the size, that matters more than the price. The weight is a selling point: tungsten is dense, and the workshop says this gives the ring the heft people expect. It is also the version to choose if you want something you can wear daily without worrying about scratches, as long as the size is right.
Wētā Workshop: The One Ring, Gold Plated Tungsten
The One Ring, Gold Plated Tungsten Wētā Workshop $129 price checked October 16, 2026
Not measured by us. Details come from the retailer.
Wētā Workshop sells the same tungsten One Ring as Jens Hansen, and the product page says so: it is crafted by Jens Hansen Gold & Silversmith, with 18K gold plating over tungsten carbide. The price is the same, the sizes run from US 6 to 13, and the walnut box is the same box. Wētā describes the engraving as Black Speech runes, while Jens Hansen calls it Elvish runes; both describe the same inscription.
So the choice between the two shops is about the shop, not the ring. Shipping options, delivery times, returns and any bundles differ between them and change over time, so compare both checkouts before you order. Wētā also repeats the key warning: tungsten cannot be resized, so order the right size the first time. If you collect other Wētā pieces, buying from them may simply be more convenient. Read our review of the Wētā listing for more detail.
The Noble Collection: One Ring, Steel
One Ring, Steel The Noble Collection $59 price checked October 16, 2026
Not measured by us. Details come from the retailer.
The Noble Collection's stainless steel One Ring is the least expensive licensed ring in this comparison. The product page is short: the ring is crafted in stainless steel, individually etched, and sold with a metal display stand. Sizes listed are whole sizes from 6 to 14, and some sizes may be out of stock at any given time.
Noble describes its whole range as officially licensed collectibles, though this product page does not name the licensor. It is not a copy of the Jens Hansen prop, and Noble does not claim it is. Treat it as an entry level ring: fine for costume, a gift or trying out the look, less convincing if you want a ring that matches the weight and colour of the film ring. Noble also sells spinning and coloured steel versions at similar prices, which move further away from the film design.
The Noble Collection: The Silver One Ring
The Silver One Ring The Noble Collection $79 price checked October 16, 2026
Not measured by us. Details come from the retailer.
This one is solid sterling silver with the inscription laser etched on the outside of the band only. Noble lists sizes 6 to 14, though at the time of checking the size menu showed limited availability. There is no gold plating, so it is silver coloured rather than gold, which makes it a ring for people who like the inscription more than they care about matching the film.
The low price for solid silver is the appeal. The trade-offs are the single sided engraving and the very short product description, which gives no weight, width or thickness. Silver also darkens over time and needs an occasional polish. If you want silver with the full inscription inside and out and the film shape, the Jens Hansen and Wētā silver rings cost several times as much, but they answer a different question. This is a pleasant ring, not a replica of the prop.
The Noble Collection: The One Ring Sterling Silver
The One Ring Sterling Silver The Noble Collection $159 price checked October 16, 2026
Not measured by us. Details come from the retailer.
Noble's gold coloured One Ring is cast in sterling silver and plated in pure gold, with the inscription etched all the way round the inside and outside of the band. It comes with a 24 inch chain, a wooden collector's box and a certificate of authenticity, which makes it a display piece as much as a ring.
There is one big limitation: Noble sells it in size ten only. That is no problem if you wear it on the chain like Frodo, but it rules it out as a ring for most fingers. Plated silver also wears with use, so expect the gold layer to thin on a ring worn every day. As a boxed gift to hang on a chain or keep on a shelf, it sits between the steel bands and the Jens Hansen silver ring. Our full review covers what is and is not stated on the product page.
Badali Jewelry: The One Ring
The One Ring Badali Jewelry From $139 price checked October 16, 2026
Not measured by us. Details come from the retailer.
Badali Jewelry's One Ring is a separate design by Paul Badali, made under a licence from Middle-earth Enterprises rather than the Warner Bros. film licence. It is 92.5% sterling silver, 2.2 mm thick, and its width changes with the size: 6.5 mm for small sizes, 7 mm for sizes 9 to 11 and 8 mm above that. Badali puts the first half of the Tengwar inscription on the outside and the second half on the inside.
The strengths are fit and choice. Sizes run in quarter steps, the finish can be plain polished silver or have the runes antiqued black or painted red, and rhodium plating is available on request. Every ring is cast to order in Utah, so allow a week or two. It will not look exactly like the film ring, and it is not meant to. If fit matters more than film accuracy, it is worth a close look.
Jens Hansen: Bilbo Ring: The One Ring, Sterling Silver
Bilbo Ring: The One Ring, Sterling Silver Jens Hansen $399 price checked October 16, 2026
Not measured by us. Details come from the retailer.
Jens Hansen sells its sterling silver One Ring as the Bilbo Ring. It is made to the shape, thickness and proportions of the film prop, engraved inside and out with the inscription, and packed in the same walnut box as the other licensed rings. Sizes run from US 7 to 12. The workshop says it or a competent jeweller can stretch or compress the ring by up to one US size afterwards, which tungsten cannot offer.
The name is marketing; Bilbo never had a silver ring. What you get is the film shape in a solid precious metal at a fraction of the gold price. Silver will tarnish and scratch more easily than tungsten, and the colour is obviously not the yellow gold of the prop. If you want a solid metal ring with the full inscription and the film profile, this is the realistic middle of the range.
Wētā Workshop: The One Ring, Sterling Silver
The One Ring, Sterling Silver Wētā Workshop $399 price checked October 16, 2026
Not measured by us. Details come from the retailer.
Wētā Workshop lists the same Jens Hansen made sterling silver ring, engraved inside and outside and supplied in the walnut box, at the same price as Jens Hansen. Wētā gives a size table with inner diameters, from UK N and a half (US 7, 17.3 mm) to UK X and a half (US 12, 21.4 mm), which is useful if you know your size in millimetres. The chain is not included.
At the time of checking, Wētā marked the ring as available to pre-order and shipping from its New Zealand warehouse. As with the tungsten ring, the choice between Wētā and Jens Hansen comes down to the shop: delivery, returns and whether you are ordering anything else at the same time. Wētā's listing does not mention resizing, while Jens Hansen's does, so if you are unsure of your size it may be worth asking either shop before you buy.
Jens Hansen: Gollum Ring: The One Ring, 10K Solid Gold
Gollum Ring: The One Ring, 10K Solid Gold Jens Hansen From $3,999 price checked October 16, 2026
Not measured by us. Details come from the retailer.
The Gollum Ring is Jens Hansen's 10K solid yellow gold One Ring, with the inscription engraved inside and out. It is the closest licensed version to the film ring you can order off the shelf, though the prop itself was 18ct gold rather than 10K. Sizes run from US 7 to 11, and the workshop says the ring can be stretched or compressed by about one US size afterwards. A rhodium plated option gives a white gold look and costs slightly more.
Jens Hansen pitches this ring as a wedding band, and it makes sense in that role: solid gold, resizable within limits and in stock rather than made to order. The price is the obvious barrier. 10K gold is harder wearing than higher carat gold but a little paler in colour. If you want the exact carat of the prop, Wētā's 18K version is the step up; if you want gold for less, Badali's gold ring is another route.
Badali Jewelry: Gold One Ring
Gold One Ring Badali Jewelry From $2,499 price checked October 16, 2026
Not measured by us. Details come from the retailer.
Badali's gold One Ring uses the same Paul Badali design as the silver version, cast in your choice of 10K, 14K, 18K or 22K gold, in yellow, white or rose depending on the carat. The thickness is 2.2 mm and the width changes with ring size, as in silver. Badali lists weights from about 7 grams in 10K up to about 16.5 grams in 22K, depending on size.
The appeal is choice and fit. Sizes run from 4 to 20 in quarter steps, which few other makers offer, and the runes can be left polished or finished in black or red. It is licensed through Middle-earth Enterprises, not the film licence, and the inscription layout is Badali's own: half on the outside, half on the inside. The starting price is for 10K; higher carats cost more. For a gold wedding band in an unusual size, it may be the most practical option here.
Wētā Workshop: The One Ring, 18K Solid Gold
The One Ring, 18K Solid Gold Wētā Workshop From $8,799 price checked October 16, 2026
Not measured by us. Details come from the retailer.
Wētā Workshop's 18K One Ring is handcrafted in Jens Hansen's Nelson workshop in 18 carat gold, the same carat as the ring filmed for The Lord of the Rings. You can order it as an exact movie replica without any inscription, or with the inscription inside and out, which costs more. It comes with a 65 cm sterling silver chain and a certificate of authenticity signed by Halfdan Hansen.
This is a made to order piece. Wētā asks for a non-refundable deposit of a quarter of the price, and the order is handled by email rather than a normal checkout. Larger sizes may cost extra. The plain version is the most faithful option on the market, since the film prop itself carried no engraving. It is also by far the most expensive ring here, which puts it in heirloom or once in a lifetime territory rather than casual fandom.
How we compared these rings
We have not had any of these rings in our hands yet, so nothing on this page is our own measurement. Materials, sizes, finishes and prices come from each retailer's product page on the date shown above the table. We list licensed rings only. Where a detail is missing from a product page, the table says "Not stated" rather than guessing.
Unlicensed rings and copies
Two kinds of ring are left out of the comparison above on purpose.
Jens Hansen's Movie Ring. The workshop that made the film rings also sells a plain band in the shape of the prop, in silver and several carats of gold, without the inscription. It is honest about what it is: an authentic replica of the ring as filmed, which really was plain, sold outside the licence. Jens Hansen says it cannot engrave the licensed inscription on it for legal reasons. It is not a copy, but it is not a licensed One Ring either, so we keep it separate.
Copies. Marketplaces are full of rings sold as "The One Ring" at a fraction of these prices, often with a printed rather than engraved inscription, a thin band and no maker named anywhere. We do not link to them. If you want to check a ring you already own or are about to buy, our guide on telling the real One Ring from a fake lists what licensed rings come with.
How to choose
Start with the size. If you are not sure of it, avoid tungsten, which cannot be resized, and look at silver or gold rings that can be adjusted. Then decide what matters: film accuracy points to Jens Hansen and Wētā Workshop, fit and finish options point to Badali, and a gift on a chain points to The Noble Collection.
Our tungsten vs gold vs silver guide explains the materials, and the reviews of the Jens Hansen tungsten, silver and gold rings, the Wētā Workshop tungsten ring and The Noble Collection's ring go into more detail. For the history behind the design, start with the One Ring.
